Sandalwood Souvenirs
Sandalwood souvenirs and gift articles are the best buy at Khadi Bhandar. A miniature elephant or just a key chain makes the perfect sandalwood gift from India.

Engineer ?
This banner caught my attention at Santacruz station. My 2 year old Krrish does exactly this with all his toys, especially the cars and bikes.
Do you think it's the sign of a future engineer? Or just a curious child?

Kid's Shopping
Kid's shopping is something you can't miss on Linking Road. Take a look at those garments. You can get a good outfit even party wear for as low as Rs.150 to Rs. 500.
Some of these shops have fixed prices as they are sure you won't get their stuff at the same price anywhere.

Shopping In Mumbai Local Train
The girl in the photo was fascinated by the choice of earrings she had in the Mumbai local train.
Many sellers with goods like hairbands, bindis, bracelets, earrings, long necklaces and hair accessories are a common sight in the ladies compartment of Mumbai local train. These earrings are priced at only Rs. 10.

Welcome Ganesha
Welcome Ganesha. Today marks the beginning of the 10 day Ganesh Chaturthi festival, when Lord Ganesha is worshipped and on the last day, the idols are immersed into the sea.
The picture is of Satgurus, where you can get beautifully carved idols of various Gods, also paintings and frames. If you are at Linking Road, this is a must visit, just a two minutes walk from the Linking Road market.

Shopping Crowd
Linking Road is usually very crowded as you see here. You can get good bargains at the hawkers but it's important to be aware of pick-pocketers.
When there is a municipal raid, the whole road is deserted, except for the shops having licences.

Shoes At Linking Road
Looking for Shoes, Sandals, Slippers, Mojris for men, women and children in Mumbai.
Linking Road is the place to shop. I'm not absolutely positive about the durability of these shoes but a 3 to 4 month life is acceptable here for women footwear.
Everyone wants matching footwear and handbags, and they like to change the accessories along with the wardrobe.
If you are looking for more durability, walk into the large showrooms like Metro and Scandal for footwear and handbags, and you will get a good deal here too.

Shopping At Linking Road
Linking Road at Bandra is a shopping haven for many Mumbaiites and tourists alike. Handbags, shoes, readymades, fabrics, furnishings and home linen, food, name it and here is the place to be. Stylish handbags to suit different tastes are available here. I buy my handbags here or branded ones, usually Jane Shilton from Shopper's Stop.
It is usually crowded a you see in this photo. Bargaining is a must for a good price though some shops have fixed prices.

Window
This wooden window is fixed on the wall outside two apartment doors facing each other. The two apartments are owned by the same family and placing of the window was recommended to them by a Vastu and Fengshui expert.
Do you believe in Feng shui and Vastu Shastra?

Apples and Sweet Limes
An apple a day keeps the doctor away. True, no fats and cholesterol and lots of fibre helps keep your heart healthy and maintain healthy blood pressure.
Check out ALL ABOUT APPLES.
On the other hand, sweet lime juice cures throat infections and helps lose weight too.
I love eating fruits. But my son Krrish still rejects fruits. He can gulp down a 200ml pack of Tropicana mixed fruit juice in a minute but eating fruits is a no-no.
How about you? Do you love eating fruits?

Papayas and Melons
Loads of papayas and melons are back in the Mumbai fruit markets.
Papayas are a rich source of vitamin C and the only natural source of papain, which assists the digestion process by breaking down protein and cleansing the digestive track.
Watermelons are great thirst-quenchers and an excellent source of antioxidants, vitamin C and vitamin A.
So gear up for some healthy eating Mumbaiites while the fruits are available.

Indian Water Chestnut
'Singhada', the 'Indian Water Chestnut' is green outside and white inside. It is very juicy and crunchy, when eaten raw and very rich in vitamins.
It is sold by hawkers on pavements raw and also steamed. When steamed, it's rind becomes coal black and it tastes somewhat like a potato.
Singhada is peeled, dried and crushed to get flour 'singhade ka atta' which is used to prepare 'pooris' and 'rotis' for fasting.

Hand-Cart Wallahs (Haath-Gaadi Wallahs)
The Haath-Gaadi wallahs are labourers, sweat on their brow pulling a wheeled hand-cart stacked with heavy goods.
The first sign in the Monthly Theme collage means 'NO HANDCARTS ALLOWED'
I saw this man pulling the hand-cart loaded with onions in the APMC Market at Vashi. There's another labourer pushing the cart from behind.
Even today, a large number of labourers make a daily living by pulling the hand-cart.
