Weekend Snapshot: Sunday Breakfast

Weekend Breakfast Special: Idli Chutney

Unlike South Indian homes, Idlis are not prepared very often in my kitchen. So, it is Weekend Special breakfast atleast twice a month. For those who don't know, Idlis are steamed rice cakes made of rice and lentil batter, served with sambar or chutney (which are South Indian dips).

Today we are having Idlis with spicy Tomato Chutney. My li'l one also loves idlis with (no-chilli & spice) coconut chutney.

  1. mmmmmmmmm... that makes my mouth watering!

  2. Now this looks good! I think I'd prefer it for lunch tho, not breakfast. I love the colourful photographs of your city.

  3. I remember having these for breakfast in Chennai. I wasn't sure what to do with them. I think I needed to be in India much longer than I was to understand the food--to understand at all.

Too bad we can't all live months in several other cultures. The world would be better for it.

  4. That looks delicious and makes an attractive photo. I emailed the answers to your questions and also left them on my blog. Thanks for visiting.

  5. I love Indian foods, even if in my West part of France, it isn't always very easy to find a good Indian restaurant!
Thank you for visiting Arradon DP and taking time to comment.

  6. That looks delish! Interesting food! Happy PH:)

  7. I love anything made with lentils. I even use them as a sustitute for meat in tacos. These look wonderful.

  8. This looks so colourful and delicious. I'd love to try some.
