Weekend In Black & White : 12 # Trip To Elephanta Island -5 # Seagulls Again

Click photo to view it in larger size

Hungry seagulls waiting to swoop down on food tossed by the boat passengers to attract them. The sad part was that they were tossing spicy chips like Lays and Kurkure that were harmful for the birds.

Skywatch Friday 2015 - 8 : Trip To Elephanta Island - 4 # Seagulls In Flight

SEAGULLS IN FLIGHT
We spotted a flock of seagulls who were attracted to some food that the  passengers were throwing in the air. They were trying to catch the food and I managed to get them really close.

These are my first ever proper bird shots and I'm so happy I went to Elephanta island.

February 2015 CDP Monthly Theme : What Would You Miss?

'If you had to leave forever the city from which you usually post, what would you miss most?' is the February City Daily Photo Monthly Theme.

I would say - The Arabian Sea in Mumbai, whether it is at Bandra Bandstand, Carter Road, Juhu Beach,  Gateway of India, Versova Beach or Worli seaface.

As I am born and brought up in Mumbai and lived here forever, I can't imagine living elsewhere. But if I had to leave Mumbai, I'd miss the sea, the seashore, the cool sea breeze brushing my hair, and the soft sound of the waves to calm down my nerves.

And I'd miss the hustle and bustle of the city, the cultural diversity, the Juhu beach, living in the same city as Bollywood stars, the Mumbai dabbawallahs, the usually very helpful autowallahs, the local train that takes me anywhere in the city, the Mumbai rains, the awesome infrastructure and architecture, the yummy Vada Pav (like nowhere else), the best Pav Bhaji, the Panipuri , the KalaKhatta Gola, the Chai, yummy Puran Polis at Panshikar in Dadar, Ganesh Chaturthi festival, Mount Mary Fair, art and culture, shopping......

And so much more... I could go on...

And if I had to get all of these elsewhere, I'd still not want to leave Mumbai, for where could I get the undying spirit of Mumbai ?

Bindass and cool Mumbaikars.

The spirit of Mumbaikars, the people of Mumbai, who even after horrifying experiences of terrorism stood up much more stronger to live life with renewed strength and unity, who will love you and share their city with you and welcome you with open arms.

Mumbai is the city with spirit and passion for life and survival, like nowhere else in the world.  It is the city of dreams and opportunities and one can make a life out of nothing here.
For believing it, you have to come, live here, and soon you'll melt into this big melting pot of various cultures and backgrounds, and become one of us - a Mumbaikar.

Skywatch Friday 2015 - 3 : Sunset At Sagar Vihar

Click to view large size image and migratory birds

The Sagar Vihar gardens is a popular tourist spot in Navi Mumbai. The view of the Arabian sea, Vashi bridge, the sunset and the migratory birds from the seashore here is awesome. Earlier there were hovercraft services from here to Mumbai which have now been stopped. The garden is also not very well-maintained now, but the place is worth a visit for the beautiful view of the sunset and the sea.

Skywatch Friday 2015 - 1 : Sunset at Bandra Fort

Happy New Year 2015 to the Skywatch Family from Anita & Krrish in Mumbai

Sunset at Castella de Aguada
Castella de Aguada (Fort of the Waterpoint), commonly known as Bandra Fort is a fort located at Land's End, Bandra. It was built by the Portuguese in 1641 to be used as a watchtower, but is now in ruins.

The sunset and the Bandra-Worli sealink view from here is incredible.
A popular hangout spot with an amphitheatre which serves as a venue for many events, it is one of the must-visit destination for Mumbai tourists.
