This one grows beside the red Canna lily in my complex.

Entry To Vashi

This photo has been taken from the Mumbai Pune Highway. Turn left here and you are in the Vashi node of Navi Mumbai. The complex in the photo is Vashi Plaza, an important landmark.

Vashi Plaza

Vashi Plaza is a commercial complex right at the entry to Vashi. It is in Sector-17 of Vashi, which is the commercial heart of Vashi hosting small businesses, offices, clinics, banks and retail outlets.

Kid's Shopping

I've not been able to go out much this week, so this photo is of last month, when I visited Dadar.
I like the colourful clothes. The shops selling kid's clothes make maximum sales and profit in this area.

Sky

The sky after a rainy afternoon.

New Construction

The newly constructed towers in the picture are on Palm Beach Road of Navi Mumbai, where real estate prices are booming. This view of the towers and the pyramid in the centre of my complex is from outside my apartment on the third floor.

Monsoon Winds

The rains and winds continue to uproot plants and trees. Mumbai and Navi Mumbai have experienced heavy rains and flooding this weekend.

A red flower.

July Monthly Theme: The Color Red

The color red brings to many Indian minds, the picture of a beautiful Indian bride, dressed in a red outfit and bridal finery.
I couldn't photograph an Indian bride in red, but came across this photo of my mom-in-law, dressed in red for the Karva Chauth pooja.
Hindu women observe this fast as they believe it ensures prosperity and longevity of their husbands.

'Maa' would always love to dress in red on Karva Chauth day. She loved being photographed on this day, every year. In this photo, she finally wore the best dupatta for her dress. You can see a few other dupattas in the photo which she tried on till she was sure she wanted to wear this one. With her red bindi, red glass bangles and gold jewellery, she was ready to go for the pooja.

White Flowers

These are beautiful flowers and very common here but I cannot identify them by name.

White Periwinkle

I took this photo just after it stopped raining. So, you can see the raindrops on the plant.

Pink Periwinkle

The pink Periwinkle is a happy-go-lucky small shrub. It cares not for the world. It rejoices in sun or rain, or the seaside, in good or indifferent soil and often grows wild. It is known as 'Sadabahar' meaning 'always in bloom' and is used for worship. Numerous soft-wood branches from the ground, give it an appearance of fullness. Closely planted it can have an impressive effect with its various colours.This is one flower which can be found all over India.

They Win, I Lose

So, finally these parents won and they've made their nest in my balcony. They've laid eggs and the eggs have hatched already. I couldn't follow up coz I have to climb over my window to enter the bedroom balcony. Jeetu mentioned them in his post 'Pigeon And My Money Plant'. I didn't want them to lay eggs here coz now they'll keep coming back, and these birds make a mess of the place where they live.
I'll try to show you pictures of the baby pigeons.

Mussaenda Erythrophylla

Look what yesterday's rain and wind has done to this plant. Look below what it was like till yesterday. I could hardly hold on to my camera and umbrella when I took this photograph.
Also, most of the flowering plants that I photographed and showed you last week, are uprooted now.

These were planted adjacent to the bougainvilllea. Which ones are these?

Bougainvillea

Bougainvillea was named after Louis de Bougainvillea, a French navigator who came across it in Brazil during the 18th century. Bougainvillea has gained popularity all over the world, due to its versatility, richness and suitability to thrive in degrading environmental conditions. It is a semi-climber and can be grown as a hedge, a shrub, a climber over a sunny wall and also in pots. It loves open sunshine and the colours of some varieties grow brighter and more attractive in hot dry climate. A postal stamp was issued by the Indian Postal Department to commemorate this flower.

Krrish's First Scribbles On paper

My 23 month old Krrish has learnt to hold wax crayons and scribble on paper. These are his first scribbles captured on camera for him to see when he is older.

Instant Lunch

Krrish had high fever, cough and cold( flu) from Sunday and wanted to cling to me all day (he usually prefers even sleeping by himself). For two days, I spent almost every minute of the day carrying him in my arms, he even wanted to sleep on my lap.
So, for the last two days, Jeetu and I had Maggi Atta noodles for lunch and cheese sandwiches for dinner.
Now Krrish is much better and playing, and full of mischief again and I'm back to my routine Indian cooking, which is usually time consuming.

Pink Oleander

These are similar to the deep pink flowers ( Oleander) in my earlier post. Thanks to 'TOG of Coral Gables' for helping me identifying them.
