I couldn't find this flower on the few sites I know. Please help me with the name.

Dwarf Powder Puff (Calliandra emarginata)

The name 'Calliandra' means beautiful stamens. The Dwarf Powder Puff has light green kidney shaped leaflets.

Butterfly Pea

I love the colour of this flower. Its botanical name is Clitoria ternatea. It is a twining plant.

Gulmohar- Delonix Regia

The gulmohar, also known as Flame Tree is covered with clusters of flame red flowers. Finally I've posted a flower whose name I'm sure of.

The complex where I live has many beautiful plants and flowers like this one. I do not know the names of any of them. There are a few more. Can fellow bloggers and readers identify and give me the common name or botanical name?

Manish Shopping Centre

The Manish Shopping Centre at Four Bunglows area of Andheri(West) is very popular for dress materials, readymades and tailoring. The shopping centre boasts of 100 plus tailors who are all loaded with tailoring jobs throughout the year. This photo only shows the entrance.
Also you can buy all tailoring material, jewellery sets & bangles (bridal too), laces and cosmetics, accessories(hair bands, clips). You can get kurtis (for women) and kurtas (for men), sarees and salwar kameez tailored and embroidered with latest designs at competitive rates.
If you are shopping in Mumbai and also wish to get fashionable clothes stitched, you cannot miss this market.

Mangal Murti

An image bringing auspiciousness is Mangal Murti. Here, it refers to Lord Ganesha (Ganpati) who is worshipped during the Ganesh Chaturthi festival.
Just when I was about to take a photo of the popular sweet shop 'D.Damodar' in Dadar from the bus, this goods vehicle passed by. The sweet shop is right there, behind it. I'll show it some other time.

Another Garland Vendor

I saw this 'Mausi' sitting quiet behind the ST bus stand at Dadar, busy making flower garlands (gajras). I took her photo from a waiting bus I got into, to go home. This is a common sight in Mumbai, and she will easily finish selling all of them before going home in the evening.

Welcome Decorations

The decorations for sale here are for putting up at the entrance door. Sale of such decorations is common in Dadar area in Mumbai, but a tobacco store in Dadar selling them is unusual. The name of the shop reads as 'Liberty Tobacco Stores'. Most people put up such 'Torans' during festivals, or Diwali time of the year.

Clouds

Today, we could see a lining of clouds on the top of the mountains. The mountains are getting greener by the day and we will soon see the waterfalls.

Monsoon

The premonsoon showers took the city by surprise. Many came out to enjoy getting wet in the rain.


For about an hour after the rain stopped, the mountains were hidden by clouds.




Navi Mumbai is lesser polluted than Mumbai but the dust had settled down and everything was even more beautiful than before.

Pavement Under Construction

Like many other Mumbaiites, I have never been able to figure out why all the pavements and roads are dug or being repaired at the onset of monsoon.
Why now and not earlier?? I hope this reaches the concerned authorities.

June Monthly Theme: View From Your Bedroom

The gulmohar tree is the best view outside my bedroom balcony now. An educational institution is coming up right opposite my place. You can see Millennium Towers on the right side. The mountains will have lots of greenery and small streams of water(looking like tiny waterfalls) flowing down in the monsoon. Unfortunately, the mountains will soon give way for more construction.

Hutch PCO's IN BEST Buses

BEST bus customers in Mumbai can now make calls to any destination in India while travelling.
BEST is into a partnership with the telecom service provider Hutch, with plans to install its PCO's in more than 1,700 buses. The Hutch PCO is a GSM-based phone, for commuters to make local, STD and ISD calls using one rupee coins.The PCO"S and Hutch drop boxes (for cheque payment of Hutch phone bills) are installed behind the driver's seat. More than 100 buses have already been fitted with the PCO's.

Local calls are charged at Re.1 for 20 seconds, STD calls at Re.1 for 20 seconds and ISD calls at Re.1 for 6 seconds.
Passengers have welcomed and appreciated the initiative taken by BEST, and look at it as modernization of travel in BEST buses.

Plants For Your Home

Its end of summer time here, and you get to see many such vendors selling a variety of plants (indoor and outdoor) on the carts. Mumbai has experienced rain showers in the last few days and yesterday too. The plants grow well in the monsoon, and so many people buy these small plants just before the monsoon.

Sugarcane Juicewala

This sugarcane juicewala sells freshly churned sugarcane juice and quenches the thirst of hundreds of passerbys. Again it's preferred chilled but you can't be sure about the water used for the ice.
I always have it chilled and trust me, I never got a bad throat because of the ice used in sugarcane juice or the yummy gola. I mean I get a bad throat even if I have too many cold drinks and shakes using home-made ice out of my refrigerator.
